Default Marriage Novena

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a novena for marriage. My fiance and I are talking about praying a novena together before our wedding day (coming up in less than 4 weeks now!).

So far I've found a Novena to St. Joseph which looks appropriate. you can see it here:
http://www.ewtn.com/Devotionals/novena/joseph.htm

Mostly what I find when I search are novena's for helping to strengthen or save a marriage or novena's for discerning marriage. Does anyone have other suggestions?

Thanks!! Kerri

it is so wonderful that you are doing this.

DH and I tried to do something similar the 9 days leading up to the wedding and we just never followed through with it. Stick to it!

I strongly encourage you read the book

"Love Letters to My Husband"
by Gianna Beretta Molla (Author), Elio Guerriero (Editor)

It is very encouraging and amazing to read!

Hi Lucia!

Thanks so much for the book suggestion! I'll definitely look into it.

I hope we stick to a 9 day novena too!! I know there will be a lot of last minute wedding stuff to do, so hopefully we'll be able to do this as well.

Thanks!!
Kerri

In daily Mass one afternoon, a visiting priest once mentioned in his homily that Catholic couples used to spend the night before their wedding praying before the blessed sacrament.

Perhaps if the novena doesn't work out, or in addition to the novena you could do something like this...

My FH and I are not spending the whole night at adoration because then we would not have the energy required for the long day to come (we are getting married on the longest day of the year!), but we have decided just to spend a few hours - at least until midnight after the rehearsal dinner praying in a perpetual adoration chapel. We also plan on inviting relatives and friends to join us.

I've seen that St. Joseph novena, by the way, it looks like a good one.

We wanted to do something like this as well but couldn't find anything at the time. I think it is a wonderful idea! And starting (or keeping) the practice of praying together is so very important. We say our prayers together every night before bed, and I love it that we do.

I realized I have nine days till my wedding so it would be a perfect time to start a novena. I googled "Catholic wedding novena" and found this thread in the results! Too funny!

I'm planning also to go spend some time in front of the Blessed Sacrament tonight - my parish has Adoration on Thursdays. Hopefully I will be able to go next week too.
