Wink In need of honeymoon ideas...

Hello ladies,

I turn to you for help/ideas regarding our honeymoon.

My Fiance and I are looking for honeymoon suggestions... We like the idea of a quiet cottage/chalet somewhere in the countryside/mountains, which is also reasonably close to a city (for some nightlife, shopping, fancy dinner, etc).

We were thinking about somewhere in Maine (or in the New England area because we are from Canada).... Any suggestions?

PS - not sure what time of year.. either spring or fall...

I just love this idea! But then again I'm not the tropical beach type, so going to a romantic and relaxing location is right up my alley.

Spring or Fall are wonderful times to go to that area of the country. Especially in the Fall when all the colors are at their peak - though watch out for paying more for "color season" because of that.

I would start by just going some good Google searching for B&Bs in the area you want to stay. There are even B&B guilds that rate different places and have reviews about them. And you can even do combo trips like the place Duchess just went with her husband for their anniversary where they have equestrian activities as an option right at the B&B.

So - what do you both like to do? Hiking? Shopping? Antiquing? Visiting historical places? Museums?

Wow - the possibilities are endless!! How fun!!

Default Beautiful

New England is so beautiful -- in every season actually. My husband and I stayed in a wonderful B&B called "The Nutmeg Inn" in Vermont (can't remember the exact town offhand, but I'm sure you could google it). We went in the winter -- took a sleigh ride through a snow covered maple-syrup farm at night, went snowmobiling and shopping during the day. I would imagine it would be stunning in the fall (or spring ...)
Happy hunting.

Yay!

We are looking for something more private.. perhaps we would stay at a B&B for one maybe two nights.. but we would really like to get a cabin/chalet/cottage somewhere.

We want to relax, enjoy the outdoors (hiking, photography, canoeing, kayaking, walks, etc.), maybe some shopping, etc. We want a time to relax and enjoy our first little time of being married!

We are not 'lay-on-the-beach' type of people... we think quaint, romantic, relaxing, touristy honeymoons are the best!

We love natural beauty, and some of the arts & culture scene (museums, theatre, etc)

We have this idea of finding a cottage or something with some surrounding natural beauty (trees, mountains, lake, something), fireplace to curl up beside, a whirlpool or hot tub ( !!), and to be able to be laying in bed and have the morning sun shine in the master bedroom through a large window, etc. (** Sigh... ** )

Any ideas for Maine? Vermont? New Hampshire?

Keep the great ideas flowing...
